The Bonaventure Senior Living team says Jacinto Bonilla is a living legend. A cancer survivor and well-known Brooklynite, Bonilla is an inspiration to seniors across the nation.
Headquartered in Salem, Oregon, Bonaventure Senior Living is a network of 37 senior living communities offering care that ranges from independent retirement cottages to full-service retirement and assisted living, to specialized memory care programs. According to CEO Kelley Hamilton, Bonaventure Senior Living was designed so that this country’s most active generation of seniors never has to slow down. In his 10+ years as co-owner of Bonaventure Senior Living, Kelley Hamilton has been honored to know countless remarkable individuals. One that he wishes he could meet is 74-year-old CrossFit participant Jacinto Bonilla.
Bonaventure Senior Living is an ideal fit for active retirees.
According to Kelley Hamilton of Bonaventure Senior Living, at the age of 67 Jacinto Bonilla retired. Retired, that was, from a long career in radiography. However, having grown up in an active family, Bonilla wasn’t satisfied. According to the Bonaventure Senior Living CEO, Bonilla decided he wanted to lead others on a quest for a healthy lifestyle. Bonilla has admitted in numerous interviews that he thought he was in shape until a rather humbling CrossFit challenge.
Bonaventure Senior Living’s Hamilton reports that it would take more than a difficult workout to stop the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games player. Leading up to the 2011 competition, Bonaventure Senior Living reports that Bonilla competed in 2008’s CrossFit games. Then in 2010, the spunky senior was forced to take it easy due to an unfortunate injury, says the CEO of Bonaventure Senior Living. The 2011 games were a comeback for Bonilla – he ranked number seven in the 60+ Masters Division.
For the 2011 season, Jacinto Bonilla competed in the CrossFit games held at the Home Depot Center. When asked about his level of fitness, Bonilla says he is as strong as ever, notes Kelley Hamilton of Bonaventure Senior Living.
The team at Bonaventure Senior Living supports the idea that every older adult can be motivated to stay fit. This is one of the thoughts behind the Bonaventure Senior Living lifestyle, says Kelley Hamilton. Each location is set up to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle amongst its valued residents. At Bonaventure Senior Living there are numerous activities – both on and off site – that are available at no extra charge to residents. Kelley Hamilton says Bonaventure Senior Living is an ideal place for active older adults like Bonilla to call home.
Kelley Hamilton highlights Bonaventure Senior Living activities.
Kelley Hamilton says that Bonaventure Senior Living residents are treated to a diverse itinerary of fun. Any given day, residents may be offered the opportunity to challenge skills with Wii bowling or golf, learn about sustainable living through container gardening demonstrations, or take a leisurely morning swim before heading off to the local art museum. And, seniors are invited to numerous scheduled events, including dinner and dancing and those honoring the many veterans who call Bonaventure Senior Living home, adds Kelley Hamilton.
Every Bonaventure Senior Living community is staffed with experienced caregivers who take the time to listen and respond to resident’s needs.
While Kelley Hamilton is partial to Bonaventure Senior Living, the CEO invites seniors and their families to come and see for themselves what all the fuss is about. Whether it’s playing air guitar with “Elvis” in Idaho Falls or participating in the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk in Oregon, Kelley Hamilton says Bonaventure Senior Living residents are always on the move experiencing new and exciting things.
