Business Without Boundaries | Dennis Wong Discusses Networking

What’s the perfect job for social personalities? Dennis Wong, founder of YOR Health, answers this question and more in today’s interview with Oceans2003.

Oceans2003: Thank you, Dennis Wong, for speaking with us. We’re excited to have the founder of YOR Health with us today!

Dennis Wong: I am honored to have been asked, and thank you.

Oceans2003: First, for our readers who may not be familiar with YOR Health, can you tell us a bit about what the company does?

Dennis Wong: YOR Health is a nutritional products company with an emphasis on digestive health. We believe that you are what you absorb into your body, and that those products should have a real benefit on the body.

Oceans2003: What are some of the YOR Health products?

Dennis Wong: We have a weight management line that includes YOR Complete Burn and YOR MRP. Another popular category includes the YOR Health digestive products, like YOR Digestive Ultra.

Oceans2003: What makes YOR Health different from other companies like it?

Dennis Wong: Of course, I’m a bit partial but I would say having superior products.

Oceans2003: Let’s talk about YOR Health’s marketing strategy.

Dennis Wong: Well, we do not have regular employees that sell or distribute our products. We are a direct sales agency with Independent Representatives.

Oceans2003: So it’s like each Independent Representative owns a small business then?

Dennis Wong: That’s right; they are in control of their business individually.

Oceans2003: Why not just put products on the shelf?

Dennis Wong: We feel that type of approach can be impersonal. Our products do so much and sitting them on a shelf amongst sub-par nutrition just doesn’t do them justice. Plus, starting a conversation about these products is a great way to build relationships.

Oceans2003: Would you say this is the perfect job for those with a social personality?

Dennis Wong: Yes; network marketing is really social marketing at its best. Our Independent Representatives are first able to share these products with their friends and family and later, with people they meet.

Oceans2003: We understand that many Independent Representatives gain customers without even mentioning the business?

Dennis Wong: Yes, we’ve had IRs tell us that people will approach them before they even start actively promoting asking what they are doing that makes them look and feel so good.

Oceans2003: YOR Health IRs are really more like walking billboards, then?

Dennis Wong: Yes. Each one of our enthusiastic Independent Representatives are businessmen and women. They work as little or as much as they want to.

Oceans2003: How do you earn an income through direct sales?

Dennis Wong: IRs earn a portion of customer product sales based on connections they provide to the company.

Oceans2003: Do YOR Health customers tend to order month after month?

Dennis Wong: Yes, and that means their Independent Representative continues to earn long after the initial sales.

Oceans2003: What are the benefits to the corporate aspect of the business of operating this way?

Dennis Wong: For me, it all comes back to relationships. We have such a large sales force and I have been lucky enough to know many of our Independent Representatives personally. When you have a business model like this, both your customers and your Independent Representatives feel comfortable talking to you about the products and pointing out any areas for improvement.

Oceans2003: In other words, YOR Health grows and matures based on its customer’s needs?

Dennis Wong: Yes, and that is what it has allowed us to be so successful over the last 4 years. We are now and will always be a people company not just a product provider.

Oceans2003: Thank you for talking with us today. We look forward to watching YOR Health continue to grow.

Dennis Wong: You are more than welcome.

Dennis Wong began his career like many now-successful businesspersons – he grew up poor with little prospect for the future. YOR Health was founded in 2008 and has allowed Dennis Wong the chance to meet new people, build new relationships, and enhance the health and happiness of countless individuals through his sales force of network marketers. Dennis Wong: Dennis Wong is the founder of YOR Health, an Irvine, California-based company that provides nutritional products to a global clientele. While many people believe that Dennis Wong has led a charmed life, the successful businessman claims that divine intervention, hard work, and luck got him where he is today.

  • Hi, Dennis Wong. YOR Health is a direct sales company, and I have considered joining so many times. Before I do, can you please explain to me how “direct sales” is different from the “multi-level marketing” that gets such bad press? - Chase Brown

    • Chase, a direct sales company is one that allows its customers to become business owners, entrepreneurs who can share what they love with the people in their world. These business owners earn a percentage of sales based on the business they bring into the company. Multi-level marketing is a sales strategy that encourages (often unethically) reps to recruit other reps with the promise that each new rep brought in “under” themselves will generate an income for each person in their “up line.” Essentially, it promises to compound very little effort into huge cash rewards.

  • I am not really what you’d call a “people person.” Can I still utilize networking strategies? - David Grimm

    • David, it’s possible, yes, but (at least for this business) only if you truly have a passion for what you do. You don’t necessarily have to rely on face-to-face contact to build a network. The advent of the Internet has made being social something you can do from home. Of course, I’d like to encourage you to come out to one of our events. You may be more of a “people person” than you think once you surround yourself with like-minded individuals. - Dennis Wong, YOR Health

  • I’d like to direct this question to Dennis Wong. YOR Health places emphasis on digestive health, but what does that really mean? Doesn’t everyone digest food/nutrients the same no matter what? - Douglas Wyler
