Oceans 2003: Good morning Mr. Wehba, and thank you for taking the time out to be with us today. Fred Wehba: Always a pleasure. Oceans 2003: We often take reader questions. One of our most recent inquiries was about finding inner peace. We’d like to talk with you about that today, if you are willing. |
Fred Wehba: I will answer as best I can.
Oceans 2003: Why do you think that it’s important to find peace with yourself?
Fred Wehba: When you learn to accept who you are, it is much easier to figure out where exactly you belong.
Oceans 2003: That’s very insightful…
Fred Wehba: I think it is just something that takes a lot of faith.
Oceans 2003: Faith in yourself?
Fred Wehba: Faith in yourself and the faith that God will see you through to where you need to be.
Oceans 2003: Does God show you who you are?
Fred Wehba: God made you, but peace is something you have to find for yourself. He can guide you but you must be willing to accept his truth.
Oceans 2003: Can you give us an example of how being at peace with yourself is helpful in a business sense?
Fred Wehba: Regardless of what business you are in, your primary goal is to sell yourself. You must be comfortable with who you are so that you can let the world know how good you are at what you do.
Oceans 2003: That makes a lot of sense actually.
Fred Wehba: When you learn to believe in yourself you come across as more authoritative and knowledgeable in your area of expertise.
Oceans 2003: What about from a personal standpoint?
Fred Wehba: Being at peace with yourself allows you to take advantage of opportunities that may not present themselves otherwise.
Oceans 2003: Such as…?
Fred Wehba: Romantic relationships, friendships, travel opportunities… If you’re busy fighting with yourself you will walk around with blinders and you are sure to miss many wonderful experiences.
Oceans 2003: Is there a difference between being at peace with yourself and being overly confident?
Fred Wehba: Absolutely. When you know who you are you don’t have to be arrogant about your abilities or your station in life. I find that it is often the case with those who are excessively assertive are fighting invisible battles.
Oceans 2003: What do you mean “invisible battles?”
Fred Wehba: Many people compensate for insecurities with arrogance.
Oceans 2003: That’s rather paradoxical, don’t you think?
Fred Wehba: When someone can’t see clearly, their actions and their intent often conflict.
Oceans 2003: How do you strike a balance?
Fred Wehba: For me, it all goes back to my faith in God. My beliefs are the foundation on which I stand and they mold my every action.
Oceans 2003: Do you feel that your faith allows you to be the best you can be?
Fred Wehba: There is no doubt about that. I feel like if I did not have such a strong connection to the church I would be a shell of the man that I am today. My faith motivates me to be successful in all areas of life.
