Oceans 2003: In your sermons at God’s Luv International Ministries Church, the subject of fear comes up quite a bit.
Dr. Pierre Bennett: Fear is an issue that will always be at the center of faith because fear holds us back. Fear is the opposite of faith, and I’ve found that the God’s Luv International Ministries Church congregation cannot walk in trust with God if they are living in fear.
Oceans 2003: But believers really have nothing to fear.
Dr. Pierre Bennett: Not if they’re walking with God. As I say in my God’s Luv International Ministries Church sermons, if someone fears the enemy, the enemy can’t kill them. The enemy can’t even really hurt them. All the enemy can do is try to hold them back, keeping them from giving it their all.
Oceans 2003: There are many instances in the Bible where someone conquered fear in order to obey the Lord.
Dr. Pierre Bennett: Many instances. I recently brought up the story of Hezekiah, who was pretty much a dead man walking until he prayed fervently to God. As I told my congregation at God’s Luv International Ministries Church, God gave him fifteen more years on this Earth because he asked for it. It was because of his faith and his earnestness and the fire that he had in his heart for God.
Oceans 2003: Sounds like by simply believing, we can have whatever we want. Is it that simple?
Dr. Pierre Bennett: It’s never that simple. I tell my brothers and sisters at God’s Luv International Ministries Church that there are always bumps along the way. The enemy tries to get in the way of you receiving your true inheritance from God, but if you persevere and put your faith in Him, you’ll have abundance beyond your wildest dreams.
Oceans 2003: If you don’t find your way, you’ll find that you’re “stuck”, as you say in your sermons at God’s Luv International Ministries Church.
Dr. Pierre Bennett: I told God’s Luv International Ministries Church about a time when I was stuck circling at the airport for more than an hour. Going in that circle for that long was frustrating, but I think of being “stuck” as circling the airport, waiting to land. You can be stuck in that holding pattern for a lifetime. I can’t imagine anything more frustrating.
Oceans 2003: Do you find, as a minister, that sometimes you face your own challenges?
Dr. Pierre Bennett: God challenges all of us, not just ministers, to help us learn and grow. I encourage the entire congregation at God’s Luv International Ministries Church to minister, as well. Educating others is a large part of what we do as Christians. I feel that in ministering, it is very important to remove yourself from the personal part of the discussion you’re having and hope that they get it. But even if they don’t, you have to recognize the blessing of just helping someone else.
Oceans 2003: In your time at God’s Luv International Ministries Church, have you found that it’s challenging to minister to someone who has led a life completely devoid of God?
Dr. Pierre Bennett: When I’m talking to a new member at God’s Luv International Ministries Church, I keep an open mind because, I’ll tell you, sometimes that person that’s so far on the wrong side of God is the one who goes after God with all his heart, once he sets his mind to it. I’ve found God’s Luv International Ministries Church members who have had faith through their entire lives often don’t have the questions that those who are new to Christianity have. That fervency can be inspiring to all of us at God’s Luv International Ministries Church.
