With so much traveling under his belt, Bruce Bommarito knows how difficult jet lag can be. The sense of fatigue and disorientation that accompanies jet lag can interfere with productivity for days at a time. As a frequent flyer, Bruce Bommarito has helped inquiring travelers deal with the inconvenience of jet lag for years. Upon request, Bruce Bommarito has drawn up some of his most useful advice for overcoming jet lag.
Maintain your routine. Bruce Bommarito explains that this works best for shorter trips. If you are not traveling half way around the world, try keeping your watch set to the time in your home zone. Bruce Bommarito suggests sleeping, exercising and eating on your home time scale. With this method, says Bruce Bommarito, the body does not notice the time change and readjustment after the trip will be a snap. Of course, if traveling long distances or staying away for an extended period of time, this may not be the most practical method. In that case, says Bruce Bommarito, read on.
Exercise. An excellent way to beat jet lag, suggests Bruce Bommarito, is to exercise upon arrival. When you reach your destination, do some simple calisthenics in your room, visit the hotel gym, or take a brisk walk. Bruce Bommarito explains that exercise creates wakeful energy that combats the listless inertia of jet lag.
Drink more water. Bruce Bommarito reminds travelers that dehydration makes jet lag a lot worse. Furthermore, adds Bruce Bommarito, alcohol is not water, so having a drink at a bar or business function is not considered hydration. Bruce Bommarito makes sure to drink lots of water when traveling. Juices are a good idea, also, because they give the body simple sugars and vitamins.
With these basic techniques, Bruce Bommarito has beaten jet lag time and again. Bruce Bommarito hopes that by sharing some of his methods, fellow travelers will eventually struggle less with the drain of jet lag.
