If you focus on your weaknesses, Rick Siskey says, you’ll have strong weaknesses. Instead, push them aside and focus on your strengths. Otherwise, you may spend your life working on something that will only improve slightly.

Rick Siskey often finds himself speaking about what makes for good leadership. He consistently says that an average idea with great management will beat a great idea with average management. “A great manager can take any idea, concept, or dream and turn it into a million bucks,” Rick Siskey says. He believes managers and leaders who plan, anticipate and dream are the successful ones.

Most importantly, Siskey tells future leaders, “Don’t major in minor things.” If business managers get too caught up in small details, the more important issues can slip through the cracks. Rick Siskey acknowledges that no matter what future leaders learn in school, there is no substitute for learning life’s lessons through hard work, successes, and the occasional failure.
